Free Lung Cancer Screening Studies
There are currently two free lung cancer screening programs running at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and other participating I-ELCAP members sites. One study is for current smokers, and the other is for people who have never smoked, but have had high exposure to secondhand cigarette smoke.
Legacy Lung Cancer Screening and Smoking Cessation Project
The Legacy Project is for current smokers who are considering quitting now or in the future, and studies early detection of smoking-related diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiac disease, and lung cancer.
Flight Attendants Medical Research Institute (FAMRI)
The FAMRI-IELCAP project explores early detection and treatment of diseases related to secondhand cigarette smoke. These diseases may include emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, cardiovascular diseases, sinusitis, osteoporosis, and lung cancer.
